The Garden of Proserpine

From too much love of living,
From hope and fear set free,
We thank with brief thanksgiving
Whatever gods there be:
That no life live forever;
That dead men rise up never;
That even the weariest river
Winds somewhere safe to sea.

Today is another day of celebration. We are at Troy's mom and dad's house for the weekend. Enjoying the relaxation and company. We all love it here. This afternoon we will have another birthday celebration for Troy (we like our birthdays to go on and on...) and tomorrow Thanksgiving with his family.

This morning we buried Horton. We brought him to Gig Harbor to rest in peace in Lee's garden. Really is there a better place? There was a perfect spot next to his two childhood cats that he wanted for his departed friend. Troy read the poem above. It was sweet and sad. We are still mourning, however trying to remember the good and not dwell on the fact that Horton is gone.

  1. I'm glad that Horton is now resting in peace in a place of love ... you really can't ask for more for him (or for you guys).

    Ellie May & Jazz are safe & well. Fill-Up is loud & proud. Your house is as it normally is ... lol

  3. Lee's garden is the best. Gorgeous, peaceful, a perfect resting place for wonderful Horton. I'm glad you guys are there for the weekend, and surrounded by family and more Thanksgiving goodness.
