You don't have to accept the invitation to get angry. Instead, practice forgiveness, empathy and encouragement.” - Dan Fallon

There are many ways to respond to a situation. Early this morning I got a call from Archer who'd been at a church lock-in. He wanted to be picked up, he was exhausted and hadn't slept. When I got there he wasn't wearing his glasses. Not a good sign. He has to wear his glasses. He can't see without them...his eye sight is B.A.D.

This is what he produced. He's had these glasses since 6th grade. A full three years. He's worn glasses since 3rd grade. A full 6 years. This was the first broken beyond fixing set of glasses. And boy were they broken.
So, of course, he needs glasses and he needs them TODAY! He is exhausted and also needs sleep. I sent him to bed and this afternoon we braved the mall (and got two excellent parking spots - woohoo) and purchased some new glasses (purchased as in we do not have insurance for glasses) and ran and picked up the last of our Christmas presents in town!
He did not want his picture taken. He is still very tired. On the bright side - I never really liked his last pair of glasses - I like these ones so much better. And he likes them which is what is important.

Merry Christmas Archer!

  1. Great quote. Great glasses. Great parents. Great kid. Hmm... young man, I suppose. Great, anyway.

  2. I'm glad you were able to get another pair of glasses so quick ... AND that you like them better than the old pair. :) How'd you swing 2 good parking spaces? That NEVER happens!!!
