Brave me
I donated blood for the first time. I have extreme fear/anxiety of all things poking related so this was a HUGE step in conquering my fears. I still am anxious and a {tad} fearful, however I think I may even do it again. The people were so nice and Cheryl was such a good cheerleader (wow all that practice in high school came in handy)! Notice our super cool wraps! Fun colors! It was quite a hard decision for me (the color I mean...)

Good job Jerrie!! I was going to go but I forgot about it. My first experience giving blood wasn't so great so I've been kind of afraid to try it again.
ReplyDeleteYou did FANTASTIC & just think of those 3 lucky people who will get your blood! And remember, you looked SO skinny while donating ... :}
ReplyDeleteWTG on being a donor! Last time I tried, they rejected me (again) for having iron-poor blood. *sniff*
ReplyDeleteI'm a little concerned about the "wraps" y'all are showing off. In Illinois, we only get a little Band Aid with a cotton ball against the skin. I'm wondering if maybe they use a vaccuum or something there in WA. It scares me!
And, Jerrie, I am SO with you on the fear of poking things! I have to have blood drawn about every 6 months and I almost pass out each time. I've tried watching, not watching, laying down, standing up, sitting down, etc, and I still feel ookie when that needle slides in.
Way to go, Jerrie! I've never donated blood, but am thinking about doing it now. It's not so bad, right?
ReplyDeleteI came across your blog via Katrina's... just have to say, way to go! Being a blood donor is one of the most wonderful things you can do. I recently donated for the first time (also fighting back a fear of poking things) and found it to be a great experience. Just thinking of all the people who are helped and lives that are saved makes it worth the slight discomfort of the experience.
ReplyDeleteWay to go, and I hope you go back and inspire many to do the same!
