"You cannot put the same shoe on every foot." -Publilius Syrus

Today I am going here (well kinda...it's close to here)

with her (ok...that's not really her but that's how she says she's going to look so I'm going with it)

to see a LOT of these.
And I'll leave you with a few shoe quotes to get you thinking...

"Funny that a pair of really nice shoes make us feel good in our heads - at the extreme opposite end of our bodies." ~Levende Waters

“A pair of shoes can change your life. Just ask Cinderella.” -Anonymous

"I’m having a wicked shoe craving." -Buffy the Vampire Slayer

"He noticed my shoes! I think that was the highlight of my whole day! He liked my shoes." -Serena Williams

"I can’t be funny if my feet don’t feel right." -Billy Crystal

"I’m going shoe shopping. I need a wagon." -Hilary Banks (The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air)

she's a beauty.

It was right around age 13 that I fell in love with the University of Washington campus. David (my stepdad) took me there along with my cousin (yes, Lorinda) and a couple friends. We walked the campus. Looked in the buildings. And, while I didn't attend this university, I have always held a special place in my heart for it. So, this weekend when Troy and I went to Seattle we stayed in the U District, strolled the campus, visited the Burke Museum, went to U Village and Trophy Cupcakes (brought home a dozen -YUM).

The UW - she is a beauty.

An anniversary celebration wouldn't be complete without cocktails. We went to The District. I had a (couple) Yazi Kazis - made with ginger vodka (there was a piece of candied ginger at the bottom of the glass - LoVeD it!). Fabulous.

Perfect anniversary trip with my hubby. Fourteen years! - we've made it through the seven year itch twice! :)

a bit of Bellevue

Now that I am well...made a quick and full recovery (thanks for asking!) I thought I would share a few pics that I took last weekend in Bellevue.

This one is from the parking lot of Bellevue Square. The moon was gorgeous. I love Bellevue Square and the surrounding area. I just love to walk around...looking in shops that we don't have way up here in the north! :)
The view from the hotel room was FANTASTIC! Really does it get much better than that? (can you read that sign? blow up the picture make it bigger! Can you guess where I went right after this was taken?)

One of my purchases from Bellevue Square. I am not a big jewelry person. I always have simple earrings on and I basically collect bracelets, which I wear infrequently (but LOVE), and I do wear necklaces on occasion - the simpler the better. Love this one.

That's it for now. I am going to try (TRY) to get back into a better blogging schedule soon. Fall is in the air and I can feel a renewed sense of order in my life (can you feel it? I hope it is real!)...

Have a fun Friday!

On her way...

She is on her way to Germany for a month. How exciting! Alex went when he was in high school as well. Quite the world travelers. I know that she will have fun and this is such a wonderful experience for her to have. I will, however, miss IMing and texting her for no reason at all (and I am sure she will miss those things from me)! Glückliche Spielräume!

Where I've been (so far)

Found this cool site that will make a map of where you've traveled. I thought it was fun. Looks like I've missed the middle. :}

Edited (again): Had to fix my map. Forgot Utah (that was fun) and Nevada (Viva Las Vegas!).

create your own personalized map of the USA

P.S. This was my 100th post! Go me!

It's been a week

It has been a week since my last post and what a week it has been. First, I had a nasty head cold. Then as I was recovering Archer came down with the stomach flu. Remember that he was just sick two weeks ago with the fever/cold thing. So, he has missed a full week of school in February. He is still sick today, however he is on the mend (I hope).

I am spending the day in my jammies (except a quick trip to the bank), airing out the house and cleaning everything I can. Fun times.

Troy is in San Jose with George. Evidently there is a big airsoft store there (yeehaw)! He is hoping to go see a huge haunted house...

Troy Update

Today is day four of Troy being in D.C. He finished up the work he went to do yesterday and today is his fun day. I talked to him this morning (5:00 a.m. my time) and he was getting up and ready for his adventure. He enjoyed his work and met quite a few (at least 9) museum professionals who he could talk shop with. He is starting his adventure at the capital, which he walked to a few nights ago. He says that is the center and he will venture from there. It is fun to hear his impressions since I haven't been since eighth grade!

He will be home Sunday midnight...and we will be glad to see him. I miss my husband and friend, Archer misses dad, Horton misses his person, Fill-up misses his playmate, and Ellie May is just realizing he is gone....

Duck Days

Traveling Troy:
Troy is off to Washington D.C. He checked in and made it there safe and sound. He didn't have a lot of time, or energy, to look around much ~ but what he did see he enjoyed. Tomorrow and Friday he begins working, then has the weekend free to explore. He did share that he didn't go out to eat, but ordered room service instead ~ he had a fifteen dollar quesadilla. That better be some super tortillas and cheese! Aaaahhh....he is living in luxury now!

On the Lynden Front:
We went to the pond today to see the ducks. The momma and her 13 babies weren't there, but the others were and they were ready to eat! It is really fun to feed the ducks and see them fight for the food with the fish. Both the ducks and the fish are very aggressive ~ it is always a battle! The white duck is the big eater, pushing others out of the way and smacking them with her beak for the bread crumbs...Yesterday Archer got chased by the goose! It scared him a bit, but Troy and I found it a bit amusing! No goose chasing today! Lucky boy!
I was looking through pictures and here is one of Archer feeding ducks, who are probably our ducks ancestors, when he was four. This picture was taken by Grandma Lee, who always took him to the ducks when she would visit!
They grow up so fast! Amazing!
